CNB/CNB Custody/Invisor "Underprivileged Children Fund"

Mission

The Nemaha County STEP Foundation is excited to announce another fund. Community National Bank/CNB Custody/Invisor “Underprivileged Children Fund” was created to assist children of low-income and underprivileged situations who have unmet needs.  Disbursements are to be paid directly to service providers, who will purchase the items and work with the low-income children (no cash disbursements). Recipients will generally be referred by and through school systems, hospitals, doctors’ offices, etc.

Profile

Sometimes the most important gifts aren't things we can see right away. Not long ago, a grant from this fund helped bring in specialized support for a young child in our county who is non-verbal. That support included picture communication tools so the child could finally tell the people around her what she wanted and needed.

Not long after, that child walked up to a table, picked up a picture of her favorite food, and set it down next to a picture of blowing bubbles outside. She was asking for lunch, then playtime. When her dad gently redirected her toward a breakfast choice instead, she swapped the picture without a fuss and sat down to wait. No frustration. No meltdown. Just a child who finally had a way to be heard.

That is what this fund makes possible. A voice for a child who didn't have one before.
