Corning Impact Fund
Goal: $10,000.00
Specific Need
The Corning Community STEP Foundation is working with the Nemaha County STEP Foundation, to help fulfill their mission of making our county and community a great place to live and work. We could not do that without you!!! Thank you to everyone all who has donated in any way to help us achieve this goal. This year, the Corning Impact Fund will continue to raise funds to assist the City of Corning with restoring the old City Hall Building. This has been a work in progress for several years. The next phase of this project is to repair the front steps, pour a concrete pad at the back door and renovate the 2 nd restroom. Our 2026 Match Day goal is to work towards this goal. To date we have replaced the roof, added insulation above the ceiling, installed new LED lighting, completely renovated one restroom, put in new interior and exterior doors and renovated the foyer. As the building has had foundation problems and water leakage for many years, our contractor dug out the entire north and south sides of the building to expose the
foundation. They power washed and applied a good sealer, then laid drainage tile and 2 feet of rock which allows the water to drain away from the building. This has alleviated the leaking issues and was a huge investment into the life of this beautiful building. Last year our goal was to replace the windows and thanks to your generous donations we were able to accomplish our goal.
There is no better time to donate than now as the STEP Foundation will match 50% of our collection on "Match Day", August 28 th . If you are not interested in donating towards the City Hall renovation but share our love for our community, please consider donating to the Corning
Community Fund which is an endowment fund that will be opened up to grant requests in the near future. Endowment funds will receive a 75% match on "Match Day". The current Corning Community committee members include Kim Durland, Diane Haverkamp, Sara Kramer, Travis Haverkamp, and Shana Steinlage. Please reach out to a committee member with any questions. No donation is too small as we work toward our goal for this project. Thank you for sharing in our love for this community and helping to make it a great place to live.
